History is Herstory too…

From the Desk of Crystal Andrus:

Today is International Women’s Day and I am in Aruba, about to talk with an amazing group of women who, just like the women in my hometown in Canada, want a better life for themselves . . . and for their daughters.

But there are still millions of women around the world who are not able to dream their greatest dreams for themselves and their daughters . . . women who cannot celebrate their strengths, speak out against their injustices, or use their voice to evoke change. There are still millions of women who have no rights, who cannot vote, own property, get an education, or even have say over their own bodies. Here are just a few statistics from the 2012 World Development Report on Gender Equality and Development: Continue reading

Radical Self-Love Requires Radical Self-Acceptance

From the Desk of Ann Thomas, a Featured Partner of The SWAT Institute:

To radically accept yourself, you must embrace and come to peace with all parts of you: the beautiful, the damaged, the powerful, the remorseful, and the divine. Radical self-acceptance means seeing yourself for all that you truly are – neither with rose-colored glasses nor with muddied glasses, but with a clean, clear accurate lens.

There are 5 components to radical self-acceptance:  physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and sexual.

Ditch the “Dieting” Mentality

From the desk of Nichole Kellerman, a Featured Partner of The SWAT Institute:

Short, sweet, and to the point!

I am up to my ears in applications! Yep, I am in the works of hiring my first assistant! With all the great things I have planned for my business, (which includes getting YOU results) I’m going to need a right hand woman! Yeah baby, exciting stuff!

In this weeks episode of Nichole T.V. I am talking about something that hits very close to home. My struggle with being a “diet victim”.

(Definition of a “diet victim”-Someone who has tried multiple diets/fitness programs and always ends up back at point A)

Is Valentineʼs Day (or the Month of Love) Upsetting You?

From the Desk of Andrea Gross, a Featured Partner of The SWAT Institute:

Is walking into a store, turning your computer on and seeing hearts, or hearing people talk about buying romantic gifts and presents upsetting you? If so, it is time for a change. If you are married and this is happening, it is definitely a time to figure out what is going on with your relationship. With the desire and will you can make this years Valentine’s Day your best ever. Don’t wait to see what your spouse does, go ahead and do something really special for him/her. Make it about giving not getting. If you feel you have out grown your marriage and you find yourself dreaming about starting over, maybe it’s time to do the self work needed to find out.

IF you are single and upset about the big day- this is your big chance to turn your love life around. Feeling depressed because you don’t have a Valentine is a sure sign that you have doubts about finding your soulmate. It means you have doubts and fears about love. It means you don’t feel confident enough to “know” at the right time it will happen. Feeling this way is hardly anyway to magnetize a great partner.

Don’t Forget to Plan for FUN!

From the Desk of Andrea Beaudoin, a Featured Partner of The SWAT Institute:

What are your plans for fun this year? Fun is an important part of satisfaction and recharging for our lives and businesses. It’s good to keep yourself motivated with excitement or relaxation, and take some time for your ideal vacation, like one of these…

How does a relaxing visit to a spa sound?

Or, a trip with your family, seeing sights and spending quality time together?

Maybe you’d like to travel somewhere you’ve never been to before, experience a different culture, language and interesting people.

Or, how about quiet time at home getting things done around the house?

Hmmm…did you pick the last one?  Well, that really doesn’t sound like much fun to me now, but it used to be the kind of vacation I wanted when I was working in a “regular job”. I think when you just want time to catch up it’s a sign of stress and not having enough time off, though it may be what you need to recharge and keep going.

You or Them?

From the desk of Katie Humphrey, a Featured Partner of The SWAT Institute:

When you think of taking time for yourself – alone, doing something just for you – how does it make you feel?
I know the thought of taking YOU time makes some women feel upset (thinking, “I wish!”), overwhelmed (wondering, “Who has the time?”), and even guilty (thinking, “Who’s going to take care of so-and-so if I don’t?”). It may even make you feel selfish just considering the idea of being away from your family doing the things that bring you joy.

I’ve heard from many women that they feel like they have to choose.
It’s either “me or my family”…and if that’s the case, being the considerate and loving woman you are, you’ll always choose them. It does not have to be a choice between your happiness and that of those you love. Strangely enough, your happiness is what will bring love and happiness to everyone in your world.

GOD is Smiling on Our “Veil of Ignorance”

From the Desk of Shenazz Nadirshah, a Featured Partner of The SWAT Institute:

Since last couple of calamities I’ve been reading some tweets & messages that say:
“Why do people pray to the same GOD who does all this?” Seeing these kind of tweets & updates everyday made me think, that there are so many of us who get stronger with adversities, and so many more who stop believing in the Higher Power after or during adversities.

Thinking back, I thanked GOD that in happiness HE made me enjoy and I thank HIM that in the “ dips in life”  HE held my sanity & kept my faith in HIM undeterred and unconditional. I might have not known when I would be out of a certain situation, but always knew for sure that “I will be out of it” and through that, my connection with HIM kept getting stronger with each “dip” in life!!!
